Portable Reference Electrode

          Portable reference electrode is a miniaturized electrode device widely used in electrochemical measurement and cathodic protection systems to provide a stable potential reference for measurement. Portable reference electrode is easy to carry and field use, improve the measurement efficiency, can provide a fast and stable reference potential, ensure the accuracy of measurement, but also can adapt to a variety of environments, simple operation, a wide range of uses.

• Common portable reference electrodes:

1. Copper sulfate reference electrode: Based on Cu/CuSO₄ Electrochemical reaction. Potentially-stable. Suitable for soil and freshwater environments.
2. Silver/silver chloride reference electrode: Based on Ag/AgCl electrochemical reaction, suitable for seawater or high salinity environments.

• Use method：

1. To ensure that the reference electrode is not damaged during transportation, remove the black protective rubber cap at the reference electrode end.
2. The electrode body is placed in water or soil, as long as its end is in contact with the water or soil, but the soil fill at the contact part must be kept moist, and if dry, it can be moistened with appropriate water. Potential measurement can use a multimeter gear selection with DC voltage 2V, where a pen is connected to the reference electrode lead line, one end is connected to the test metal structure, the reading is the potential value.
3. Clean the white end after use and cover it with black rubber cap for later use.

• Product Application:

1. Cathodic protection system monitoring: used to measure the protection potential of metal structures such as pipes and storage tanks.
2. Soil and seawater corrosion monitoring: Rapid potential measurement in outdoor environments.
3. Laboratory research: as a reference electrode for portable electrochemical tests.
4. Industrial equipment maintenance: used to detect the corrosion status of equipment on site.
