Reference electrode in the cathodic protection system provides a stable and known potential reference benchmark. By measuring the potential of the protected metal (such as pipelines, storage tanks, hulls, etc.) relative to the reference electrode, the monitoring, regulation and effect evaluation of the cathodic protection system can be achieved.
