MGPS Anodes

Anode in the Marine Growth Prevention System by sacrificing itself to protect the metal structure, while reducing the attachment of Marine organisms, is an efficient and environmentally friendly protection method. The anode is usually made of a more active metal, and when it is connected to the protected metal structure (such as a steel hull or pipe), the anode will preferentially corrode, thereby protecting the metal structure from corrosion. The anodes release metal ions during corrosion, which can interfere with the attachment and growth of Marine life.

The Marine Growth Prevention System involves the dissolution of copper inside the seawater valve box, where the anode is installed at the inlet to provide DC power. Some corrosion control systems install aluminum, iron anodes near copper anodes.The anode is usually installed inside a submarine box. Thus, the seawater system will be protected. In special cases, the anode can be set in a filter, or in any intermediate suitable reaction chamber.

In Marine Growth Prevention System, the copper/aluminum anode is the positive electrode, and the hull (submarine gate) is the negative electrode.

Each anode pair consists of two types of anodes:

Copper anodes are antifouling systems
Aluminum anodes are anti-corrosion systems

Each pair of anodes needs to be mounted on each seawater valve box or filter, either vertically or side-mounted (side-mounted for lighter electrodes).
