Introduction to rectifier knowledge

Nov 26, 2020

A rectifier is a rectifier device, simply put it is a device that converts alternating current (AC) into direct current (DC). It has two main functions: first, it transforms alternating current (AC) into direct current (DC), which is filtered and supplied to the load or to the inverter; second, it provides charging voltage to the battery. Therefore, it also acts as a charger at the same time.

The rectifier is a direct current that has been rectified by a car generator. The waveform still has irregular fluctuations, which directly affects the accuracy of vehicle ignition; the output voltage cannot be kept relatively constant, resulting in a large difference in the energy of each spark plug ignition, which can easily make your car The engine jitters, there are situations such as gear shifting frustration, slow acceleration, unstable idling, and low efficiency of car air conditioning. This greatly reduces the performance and service life of the on-board electrical equipment; coupled with the aging of the circuit system of the elderly car, the impact of the circuit resistance becomes higher, and the impact on your car will become increasingly obvious. The role of the electronic rectifier is to help the car eliminate clutter interference, stabilize the output voltage, improve the instantaneous discharge capability of the power system, increase torque output, accelerate throttle response, extend battery life, shorten car engine startup time, improve ignition efficiency, etc., especially The effect is more obvious for small displacement cars.

The current of the semiconductor PN junction is large when it is forward biased, and the current is small when it is reverse biased. The rectifier diode is a PN junction diode that uses the unidirectional conductivity of the PN junction to change the alternating current into a direct current. Generally, devices with a current capacity of less than 1 ampere are called rectifier diodes, and those with a current capacity of more than 1 ampere are called rectifiers. Commonly used semiconductor rectifiers include silicon rectifiers and selenium rectifiers. There are many product specifications, with voltages ranging from tens of volts to thousands of volts, and currents ranging from a few amperes to several thousand amperes. Rectifiers are widely used in various forms of rectified power supplies.
