Impressed Current Cathodic Protection Technology

          Impressed current cathodic protection technology is to connect a DC power supply in the loop, and with the help of an auxiliary anode, direct current will be directed to the protected metal, and then the protected metal into a cathode, to implement protection. 

 

  • Advantages:

A: High driving voltage, can flexibly control the cathodic protection current output in a wide range, suitable for large protection range of occasions.

B: in harsh corrosion conditions or high resistivity environment also suitable for.

C: insoluble or slightly soluble auxiliary anode, can be used for long-term cathodic protection.

D: The protection range of each auxiliary anode bed is large. When the pipeline anticorrosive layer is of good quality, the protection range of a cathodic protection station can reach tens of kilometers.

E: The pipe with bare or poor anticorrosive layer can also achieve complete cathodic protection.

 

  • Disadvantages:

A: The one-time investment cost is high, and the electricity bill needs to be paid during the operation.

B: The cathodic protection system needs strict professional maintenance and management during the operation.

C: It cannot be separated from the external power supply, and it needs the external power supply all year round.

D: It may cause interference to the adjacent underground metal structures.
